Dodgers Recall Esteury Ruiz

DODGERS RECALL ESTEURY RUIZ

LOS ANGELE**S –** The Los Angeles Dodgers recalled outfielder Esteury Ruiz and placed infielder Max Muncy on the injured list with a left knee bone bruise.

Ruiz, 26, was acquired on April 2 from the Athletics in exchange for minor league right-handed pitcher Carlos Duran. He has appeared in 66 games for Triple-A Oklahoma City, batting .292 with eight homers, 37 RBI and 38 stolen bases. Last season, he played 29 games for the Athletics, hitting .200 with five stolen bases and two homers. In 2023, he finished his rookie season leading the league with 67 stolen bases after hitting .254 with 24 doubles and five homers. He was designated for assignment on March 30 and was originally signed by the Kansas City Royals on July 3, 2015 out of Azua, Dominican Republic.

Muncy, 34, left the game in the sixth inning last night after a collision with Michael A. Taylor. He has played in 81 games this season, hitting .250 with 13 homers and 55 RBI. He clubbed his 200th career homer on May 31 against the Yankees and he is tied with Matt Kemp for seventh all-time in franchise history with 203 career homers. He has been with the Dodgers eight seasons, slashing .232/.358/.484 with 575 career RBI. Prior to joining the Dodgers, he played two seasons with the Athletics, clubbing five homers and driving in 17 in 96 games. He was drafted by the Athletics in the fifth round of the 2012 First Year Player Draft out of Baylor University.
