DODGERS SIGN JOSÉ UREÑA
LOS ANGELE**S –** The Los Angeles Dodgers signed right-handed pitcher José Ureña and optioned right-handed pitcher Will Klein. The Dodgers designated catcher Chuckie Robinson for assignment.
Ureña, 33, was designated for assignment on May 31 by the Toronto Blue Jays. He made six appearances with Toronto, going 0-0 with a 3.65 ERA. He started the season with the Mets, making one appearance and allowing five runs in 3.0 innings. He has been in the Majors 11 seasons with the Miami Marlins (2015-20), Detroit Tigers (2021), Milwaukee Brewers (2022), Colorado Rockies (2022-23), Chicago White Sox (2023), Texas Rangers (2024), Mets (2025) and Blue Jays (2025), going 44-77 with a 4.78 ERA in 239 games.
Klein, 25, was acquired from Seattle last night in exchange for minor leaguer Joe Jacques. He made his Major League debut in 2024, allowing nine runs in 7.1 innings between the Royals and Athletics. In 22 appearances with Triple-A Tacoma this season, he was 2-0 with a 7.17 ERA and 32 strikeouts in 21.1 innings. In five minor league seasons, he is 13-9 with a 5.34 ERA in 175 games. He was drafted by the Royals in 2020 First Year Player Draft out of Eastern Illinois University in the fifth round.
