The Giants have made the following roster moves:
RHP Tyler Beede (#38) was optioned to triple-A Sacramento following Wednesday's game.
IF Kelby Tomlinson (#37) was optioned to advanced-A San Jose on Thursday.
IF Joe Panik (#12) returned from his rehab assignment and was activated from the 10-day DL on Thursday.
RHP Mark Melancon (#41) returned from his rehab assignment and was activated from the 60-day DL prior to Friday's game.
·       Returned from his rehab assignment and was reinstated from the 60-day DL Friday.
·       Started the year on the DL with a right elbow flexor strain.
·       Pitched in four games in his rehab assignment with triple-A Sacramento...did not allow a run in 3.2 innings.
·       Posted a 4.50 ERA (15er, 30.0ip) in 32 games last season for the Giants before undergoing season-ending surgery on Sept. 12 to relieve compression in his right forearm.
·       Appeared in just five Spring Training games before being placed on the DL.
RHP Jose Valdez was reinstated from the 10-day DL and designated for assignment.
