SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – The Giants and left-handed pitcher Carlos Rodón have agreed to terms on a two-year Major League contract worth $44 million, which includes an opt-out following the 2022 season if Rodón accumulates a total of 110 innings pitched during the 2022 season. Rodón will make $21.5 million in 2022 and $22.5 million in 2023. He will also make an annual donation to the Giants Community Fund, donating $107,500 in 2022 and $112,500 in 2023. 

Rodón, 29, was named an All-Star for the first time in 2021 and finished fifth in the American League Cy Young Award voting after going 13-5 with a 2.37 ERA (35er, 132.2ip) and 185 strikeouts in 24 starts for the White Sox. He established career bests in virtually every category, including a 0.96 WHIP, .189 opponents average and 12.55 strikeouts per 9.0 inning average. The left-hander’s 13 wins last season were tied for fifth-most in the American League while his ERA was the lowest in the AL among pitchers who made at least 24 starts. Rodón also threw the 20th no-hitter in White Sox history last year on April 14 vs. Cleveland.  

Drafted by the White Sox in the first round (third overall) of the 2014 First Year Player Draft, Rodón spent seven seasons in Chicago, going 42-38 with a 3.79 ERA in 121 games (116 starts).
