April 13th, 2019

The Cleveland Indians today announced the following transactions relative to the Major League roster:

Recalled RHP CODY ANDERSON (#56) and RHP JEFRY RODRĺGUEZ (#68, “YEH-free”) from AAA Columbus.

Optioned RHP JON EDWARDS and OF JORDAN LUPLOW to AAA Columbus.

Anderson, 28, will be seeking to make his first appearance at the Major League level since pitching in relief on Sept. 28, 2016 at Detroit, as the right-hander has spent the previous two seasons rehabbing from a pair of right-elbow surgeries performed on 11/9/16 (arthroscopic surgery to address recurrent posterior discomfort) and 3/27/17 (UCL reconstruction). Anderson has made one start/appearance for AAA Columbus this season on April 7 vs. Indianapolis (3.0IP, 1H, 0R, 0BB, 4SO).

Rodríguez, 25, has made one start for AAA Columbus this year, notching the win vs. Indianapolis on April 6 while working into the sixth inning (5.2IP, 7H, 3R/ER, 0BB, 4SO, 91P). He was acquired this past offseason (11/30/2018) from the Washington Nationals and appeared in four contests this spring prior to his March 11 option to Columbus. Rodríguez is slated to make his club debut tonight in a spot start against Kansas City.

Edwards was one of seven pitchers used in last night’s game in Kansas City and has gone 2-0 with a 1.80 ERA (5.0IP, 4H, 1R-ER, 1HR, 5BB, 3SO) across six relief appearances since making Cleveland’s Opening Day roster. Luplow has appeared in seven games for Cleveland this season (.200/.294/.200, 3-for-15, 2BB, 2R).
