Indians select LHP Hoby Milner in 2016 Rule 5 Draft

With the 27th selection in the Major League Phase, Cleveland selected LHP HOBY MILNER from the Philadelphia Phillies organization.

With the 27th selection in the Major League Phase, Cleveland selected LHP HOBY MILNER from the Philadelphia Phillies organization. Milner, who will turn 26 on January 13, has spent his entire career in Philadelphia's system after being selected in the seventh round of the 2012 First-Year Player Draft out of the University of Texas. The Fort Worth (TX) native has gone 36-21 with a 4.50 ERA (484.0IP, 467H, 202R-190ER, 151BB, 365SO) in 144 games/66 starts across five minor league seasons. Milner pitched exclusively in relief in 2016 and split the campaign between AA Reading and AAA Lehigh Valley, combining to go 5-4 with a 2.49 ERA and 6 saves across 49 appearances (65.0IP, 57H, 20R-18ER, 5HR, 15BB, 76SO).
A total of five players were selected from Cleveland's Player Development System by other teams, including OF Anthony Santander (Baltimore), RHP Trevor Frank (San Diego), RHP Jon Fitzsimmons (Arizona) and RHP Grant Sides (Arizona).
