The Cleveland Indians today announced the club has acquired OF ALEX CALL from the Chicago White Sox in exchange for 1B YONDER ALONSO.
Call, 24, split the 2018 season between Class A Winston-Salem and Double-A Birmingham in his third professional campaign, batting a combined .248 (107-for-431) with 28 doubles, 4 triples, 12 home runs and 58 RBIs in 123 games (.345/.415/.760). His 60 walks and 28 doubles ranked sixth among White Sox Minor League players, entering the 2018 season as the 21st overall prospect in the White Sox according to Baseball America. The River Falls, WI native was Chicago's third-round pick (86th overall selection) in the 2016 First-Year Player Draft out of Ball State University and owns a career Minor League batting average of .256 (246-for-960) with a slash line of .347/.400/.747.
The Indians 40-man roster is currently at 38 players.
