Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager of Baseball Operations Jerry Dipoto announced today the following roster move:
•    Taylor Motter, INF, claimed off waivers by Minnesota.  
Motter, 28, was designated for assignment yesterday. He spent most of the 2018 season with AAA Tacoma, where he hit .197 (29x147) with 21 runs, 6 doubles, 2 triples, 5 home runs, 21 RBI, 16 walks and 4 stolen bases in 37 games. After being recalled on April 3, he appeared in 7 games with the Mariners, batting .267 (4x15) with 2 runs, 1 home run, 1 RBI and 2 walks. The 6-foot-1, 195-pound infielder/outfielder was optioned to Tacoma on April 17. Motter was acquired by the Mariners from Tampa Bay along with Richie Schaffer (inf) in exchange for Dalton Kelly (inf), Andrew Kitteredge (rhp) and Dylan Thompson (rhp) on Nov. 18, 2016. In parts of 3 Major League seasons with the Rays (2016) and Mariners (2017-18), he is a career .198 (70x353) hitter with 42 runs, 15 doubles, 10 home runs, 36 RBI, 34 walks and 12 stolen bases in 132 games.
