SEATTLE – Baseball America announced today that Mariners President of Baseball Operations Jerry Dipoto has been named the publication’s 2025 Executive of the Year. Dipoto joins former Mariners General Manager Pat Gillick (2001) as the only winners of Baseball America’s Executive of the Year Award in Mariners history.
Dipoto is the fourth Mariner to win a Baseball America yearly award since 2022, joining centerfielder Julio Rodríguez (2022 Rookie of the Year), Major League Pitching Coach Pete Woodworth (2022 Major League Coach of the Year) and Everett AquaSox Manager Zach Vincej (2024 Minor League Manager of the Year). The Mariners were also named Baseball America’s 2022 Organization of the Year.

Dipoto, 57, heads the Mariners Baseball Operations department, leading the club to two Postseason appearances (2022 and 2025). In 2025, Dipoto helped build the Mariners roster that would capture their first American League West title since 2001 and earn a trip to the American League Championship series.
In addition to the development of homegrown Mariners All-Stars Julio Rodríguez (2017 International Free Agent), Cal Raleigh (2018 MLB Draft, 3rd round), Logan Gilbert (2018 MLB Draft, 1st round), George Kirby (2019 MLB Draft, 1st round) and Bryan Woo (2021 MLB Draft, 6th round), Dipoto oversaw the midseason deals to acquire infielders Josh Naylor and Eugenio Suárez.
Under Dipoto’s leadership, the Mariners Player Development system has been regarded among the top in baseball. Entering 2025, the Mariners were ranked 5th by Baseball America, while Seattle currently leads the Majors with 8 players in Baseball America’s Top 100 prospects list, headlined by INF Colt Emerson and 2025 3rd overall pick LHP Kade Anderson.
The Mariners have won 85 games in 7 of the 10 seasons Dipoto has been in charge, including winning 90 games in 2021, 2022 and 2025. Since 2021, only the Astros (.576/466-343) and the Yankees (.569/461-349) have had a better overall record than the Mariners (.547/443-367) in the American League.
Dipoto was hired as Mariners General Manager on September 28, 2015, the ninth GM in Mariners history. He was promoted to President, Baseball Operations on Sept. 1, 2021, the first person in club history to hold the title. Prior to joining the Mariners organization, Dipoto was the General Manager of the Los Angeles Angels from 2011-July, 2015.
Dipoto, a New Jersey Native, had an 8-year Major League career as a right-handed pitcher with Cleveland (1993-94), New York-NL (1995-96) and Colorado (1997-2000). He was originally selected by Cleveland in the 3rd round of the 1989 MLB First-Year Player Draft out of Virginia Commonwealth University.
