Colorado Springs, Colo. – The Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association (MLBPAA) announces that Geoff Hixson, current Chief Operating Officer, will succeed Dan Foster as Chief Executive Officer on April 1, 2026, following Foster's retirement announcement. MLBPAA’s Vice President of Membership and Development, Kate Tyo, will assume the role of Chief Operating Officer.
As the longtime COO, Hixson will carry forward Foster’s legacy and lead the organization.
“I can think of no one better equipped to assume this role,” said Foster. “Geoff has been a loyal, trusted employee who is dedicated to continuing the great work of this organization.”
Hixson began his career with the MLBPAA 28 years ago and has grown alongside the organization, learning every facet of its operations and helping shape its programs into what they are today.
“Geoff Hixson joined the Alumni Association when Dan Foster and a skeleton crew were working tirelessly to keep everything on track,” said MLBPAA Chairman Steve Rogers. “Alongside Dan, Geoff learned from the ground up what makes the MLBPAA tick. As COO, he has been instrumental in shaping the staff and serving as a true jack-of-all-trades. His history and experience make him the logical choice to lead the Association into the future, and I’m excited to have a front-row seat for the next chapter.”
Hixson’s leadership has been instrumental in growing the game through former-player-driven charity initiatives and youth baseball programs that give back and inspire both Alumni and young athletes. His primary focus remains protecting former players and ensuring their needs are always at the forefront.
“During my 16 years on the board, I've witnessed Geoff's growth in his roles and his unwavering dedication to the MLBPAA's progress and enhancement,” said Al Leiter. “His leadership style has consistently been collaborative and considerate. His promotion to CEO is well-earned, and I anticipate our organization’s continued growth under his guidance. I am thrilled for Geoff and his family.”
“I look forward to continuing the legacy that Dan Foster and the best staff in baseball have built,” said Hixson. “Our mission to promote the sport, raise money for charities and address the unique need of the former player will continue. We embrace our role in the family of baseball and will strive each day to continue to provide opportunities for this small fraternity that have played the game at the highest level.”
As CEO, Hixson will continue the organization’s commitment to ensuring former players remain at the heart of the MLBPAA’s work and its impact on the baseball community.
