Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager of Baseball Operations Jerry Dipoto announced today the following roster moves:
Haniger (#17) and Lawrence (#61) will be in uniform and available for today's (3:10 p.m. PT) game against the Tampa Bay Rays at Tropicana Field.
Haniger, 26, was placed on the 10-day disabled list on July 30 after being struck in the face by a pitch in the 2nd inning on July 29. He began a rehabilitation assignment with AAA Tacoma on Aug. 12. In 6 games with the Rainiers, he hit .190 (4x21) with 3 runs, 2 home runs, 4 RBI, 4 walks and 4 strikeouts. In 57 games with the Mariners this season, he's batting .255 (54x212) with 36 runs, 13 doubles, 1 triple, 7 home runs and 24 RBI. The 6-foot-2, 210-pound outfielder was placed on the 10-day disabled list earlier this season on April 26 with a strained right oblique. He missed 42 games before being activated from the DL on June 11. Since being activated, Haniger is batting .203 (27x133) with 16 runs, 6 doubles, 3 home runs and 8 RBI in 37 games.
Haniger was acquired the Mariners along with INF Jean Segura and LHP Zac Curtis from the Diamondbacks on Nov. 23, 2016 in exchange for RHP Taijuan Walker and INF Ketel Marte. He made his Major League debut with Arizona last season on Aug. 16 vs. New York-NL. He went on to hit .229 (25x109) with 9 runs, 2 doubles, 1 triple, 5 home runs and 17 RBI in 34 games with the Diamondbacks last season. The native of Mountain View, Calif., was originally selected by New York-NL in the 31st round of the 2009 MLB First-Year Player Draft but did not sign. He was selected in the 1st round (38th overall) of the 2012 Draft by Milwaukee.
Lawrence, 29, is appearing in his 4th stint with the Mariners this season (also: (5/17-6/2, 6/12-13 and 7/28-8/15). He was optioned to AAA Tacoma on Aug. 15 but did not appear with the Rainiers. In 13 relief appearances with Seattle this season, he is 1-0 with a 5.64 ERA (19 ER, 30.1 IP) with 34 strikeouts and 5 walks. From May 21 - June 1, he held opponents to 3 runs in 11.2 innings pitched (2.31 ERA) while striking out 14 and walking 3 in 4 relief appearances. The 6-foot, 175-pound right-hander struck out 9 over 5.0 innings in relief on June 1 vs. Colorado, setting the single-game club record for strikeouts by a reliever. In his most recent stint with AAA Tacoma, June 13-27, he was 2-3, including 1 shutout, with a 3.35 ERA (17 ER, 45.2 IP) with 30 strikeouts and 9 walks in 7 starts. Overall in 11 games (7 starts) with the Rainiers, he is 2-4 with a 4.08 ERA (26 ER, 57.1 IP) with 41 strikeouts.                                                               
He was claimed off waivers from Toronto on May 11 after being designated for assignment on May 8. Lawrence went 0-3 with an 8.78 ERA (13 ER, 13.1 IP) with 7 strikeouts and 11 walks in 4 games (2 starts) with Toronto this season. He was selected by the Blue Jays from AAA Buffalo on April 8 and made his Major League debut in relief later that day at Tampa Bay. With AAA Buffalo, he was 1-0 with a 0.90 ERA (1 ER, 10.0 IP) with 7 strikeouts in 3 starts. The native of McSherrytown, PA, was originally signed as an amateur free agent on June 15, 2010 after 4 seasons at Albright College (Reading, PA). Over parts of 8 minor league seasons with Toronto (2010-17) and Seattle (2017), he is 66-64 with a 3.81 ERA (437 ER, 1031.1 IP) with 677 strikeouts and 191 walks in 183 career games (168 starts).
Dyson, 33, hit .255 (87x341) with 56 runs, 13 doubles, 3 triples, 5 home runs, 30 RBI and 28 stolen bases in 109 games with Seattle this season. He currently leads the American League and ranks 4th in the Majors with his 28 steals. In his last 64 games since May 27, he has hit .289 (58x201) with 32 runs, 8 doubles, 2 triples, 3 home runs, 19 RBI and 15 steals. He has 14 Defensive Runs Saved this season, the 4th-most in the Majors behind Boston's Mookie Betts (28), Minnesota's Byron Buxton (21) and Chicago-NL's Jason Heyward (17). This is his third career stint on the disabled list, with two 15-day DL stints with a strained right oblique (March 26-April 19, 2016) and a right ankle sprain (May 16-June 22, 2013) with Kansas City.
In parts of eight Major League seasons with Kansas City (2010-16) and Seattle (2017), he has hit .259 (442x1706) with 267 runs, 61 doubles, 32 triples, 12 home runs, 131 RBI and 204 stolen bases in 659 career games. He was acquired from the Royals on Jan. 6, 2017 in exchange for Nathan Karns (rhp). He was originally drafted by Kansas City in the 50th round of the 2006 MLB June Amateur Draft out of Southwest Mississippi Community College in Summit, MS.
Gaviglio ("Guh-VEE-leo"), 27, was recalled from AAA Tacoma on Aug. 15 but did not appear with the Mariners during that span. In 12 games (11 starts) over 3 stints (5/10-7/6, 7/18-20 and 8/15-19) with Seattle this season, he is 3-5 with a 4.62 ERA (32 ER, 62.1 IP) with 40 strikeouts and 21 walks. The 6-foot-2, 200-pound right hander is 3-5 with a 3.70 ERA (24 ER, 58.1 IP) with 40 strikeouts and 10 walks in 10 starts with AAA Tacoma.
Gaviglio was acquired by the Mariners from St. Louis in exchange for INF Ty Kelly on Nov. 20, 2014. The native of Ashland, Ore., has appeared in parts of 7 minor league seasons in the Cardinals (2011-14) and Mariners (2015-17) organizations, compiling a 37-41 record with a 4.02 ERA (290 ER, 650.0 IP) with 525 strikeouts and 171 walks.
