In parts of four Major League seasons (2014-current), he is 6-7, 3.65 (40 ER, 98.2 IP) in 96 relief appearances. Sam was the Cardinals 3rd round selection in the 2010 MLB First-Year Player Draft. Tuivailala was converted from shortstop to pitcher in 2012 and made the jump from rookie ball to the Majors in just 87 appearances, debuting vs. the Reds on Sept. 9, 2014.
Lawrence, 30, has appeared in three stints with the Mariners this season (also: 3/28-4/14, 5/1-12 and 7/13-28), going 0-0 with a 8.16 ERA (13 ER, 14.1 IP) in 7 relief appearances. He allowed 4 runs on 6 hits over a season-high 4.1 innings in the Mariners 5-11 loss vs. the Angels last night. The 6-foot, 175-pound right-hander was named to his first career Opening Day roster after recording a 1.80 ERA (3 ER, 15.0 IP) with 17 strikeouts and 2 walks in 6 games (2 starts) with Seattle during Spring Training. Lawrence is 6-3 with 1 saves and a 2.81 ERA (23 ER, 73.2 IP) in 14 games, 11 starts with AAA Tacoma.
In parts of 2 Major League seasons with the Blue Jays (2017) and Mariners (2017-c), he is 2-3 with a 6.72 ERA (52 ER, 69.2 IP) with 62 strikeouts and 30 walks in 34 games (2 starts). Lawrence was originally signed by Toronto as a non-drafted free agent on June 15, 2010.
