The Seattle Mariners today announced the hiring of Jessica Reid-Bateman, Director of Guest Relations and Event Security at Washington D.C’s Capital One Arena, as the Mariners new Director of Security. Reid-Bateman began her new post on February 20. She will be responsible for direction and oversight of all security functions including all games and events at T-Mobile Park.

“Jessica has over 20-years of experience in venue management, and with her background in guest services as well as security she brings a unique perspective to the job. We are excited to welcome her to the Seattle Mariners,” said Trevor Gooby, Mariners Sr. Vice President of Ballpark Operations.

Reid-Bateman spent seven-years with Monumental Sports & Entertainment, the owner of the Washington Capitals (NHL), Wizards (NBA), Mystics (WNBA) and Valor (AFL), who all play at the Capital One Arena, which is owned and operated by Monumental Sports. While there, Reid-Bateman was responsible for the safety and comfort of all guests visiting the facility and oversaw the day-to-day operations of guest relations, medical and event security teams.

Prior to joining Monumental Sports & Entertainment, Reid-Bateman spent 14-years working with the St. Louis Blues where she began her career as a part-time usher and worked her way up to Assistant Director of Guest Services and Security.

Reid-Bateman is on the faculty of the International Association of Venue Manager’s Academy of Venue Safety and Security, has taught venue management at Fontbonne University in St. Louis and is a graduate of the Disney Institute, which inspired her to help establish “Create Monumental Memories,” a training program for customer service excellence at Capital One Arena. Bateman has a Bachelor of Business Management and a Master of Business Administration from University of Phoenix-St. Louis.
