Mariners outright LHP Ross Detwiler, INF Zach Vincej to AAA Tacoma

Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager of Baseball Operations Jerry Dipoto announced today the following roster moves:
•    Ross Detwiler, LHP, outrighted to AAA Tacoma. 
•    Zach Vincej, INF, outrighted to AAA Tacoma.
Detwiler, 32, was designated for assignment by Seattle on Wednesday (Aug. 22). He made his Mariners debut in a 3-2 loss to Houston on Aug. 21 and was charged with the loss after allowing 3 runs on 8 hits and 2 walks while striking out 2 in 6.0 innings of relief. He was selected from AAA Tacoma by the Mariners prior to the game on Aug. 21. The 6-foot-5, 210-pound left-hander was signed by Seattle to a minor league contract on June 2. Prior to his selection, he made 14 appearances (11 starts) with AAA Tacoma, going 2-5 with a 5.15 ERA (41 ER, 71.2 IP). He began the 2018 season pitching with independent York in the Atlantic League and was 3-1, 2.70 (9 ER, 30.0 IP) in 6 starts. 
Detwiler has pitched in the Majors in parts of 10 seasons with Washington (2007, 2009-2014), Texas (2015), Atlanta (2015), Cleveland (2016), Oakland (2016) and Seattle (2018). Overall, he has a career MLB mark of 23-42 with a 4.36 ERA (283 ER, 584.0 IP) in 190 games (83 starts). He was a first round pick (6th overall) pick by the Nationals in the 2007 Draft and made his MLB debut that same season, pitching in 1 game. 
Vincej ("VINCE-ee"), 27, was designated for assignment by Seattle on Tuesday (Aug. 21). He appeared in 1 game with the Mariners during a brief stint with the club, July 30-Aug. 1. He has spent the majority of the season with AAA Tacoma, batting .246 (86x350) with 45 runs scored, 13 doubles, 2 triples, 6 home runs and 47 RBI in 99 games. He was claimed off waivers by Seattle from Cincinnati on Nov. 3, 2017 and outrighted to Tacoma on Nov. 11. 
Vincej made his Major League debut with the Reds in 2017, appearing in 9 games. In parts of 7 minor league seasons with the Mariners (2018-c) and Reds (2012-17), he is a career .268 (632x2361) hitter with 315 runs, 119 doubles, 15 triples, 22 home runs, 242 RBI and 53 stolen bases in 677 career games. The native of San Diego, Calif., was selected by Cincinnati in the 37th round of the 2012 MLB Draft out of Pepperdine University. He was the recipient of the Brooks Wallace Award, honoring the nation's top collegiate shortstop, as a junior in 2012.
