Mariners Recall INF Patrick Wisdom from Triple-A Tacoma

SEATTLE – Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager of Baseball Operations Justin Hollander announced today the following roster moves:

  • Patrick Wisdom, INF, recalled from Triple-A Tacoma.
  • Brendan Donovan, INF/OF, placed on 7-day Injured List (retroactive to August 22, concussion).

Wisdom, 34, was optioned on June 15. This season with Tacoma, he is batting .299 (78x261) with 13 doubles, 1 triple, 32 home runs, 72 RBI and 34 walks in 69 games with the Rainiers.

Wisdom made his Mariners debut on April 14 in a pinch-hit appearance. In 15 games with the Mariners this season, he is batting .122 (5x44) with 3 runs scored, a double, 1 home run, 4 RBI and 3 walks. He also spent parts of 2020 in the Mariners organization after he signed with Seattle on Nov. 27, 2019. He appeared at Mariners Spring Training in 2020, and also the Mariners alternate training site that year, before he was released on Aug. 14, 2020.

In parts of 8 Major League seasons with the Cardinals (2018), Rangers (2019) and Cubs (2020-24) and Mariners (2026), Wisdom is a .206 hitter (279x1352) with 195 runs, 59 doubles, 3 triples, 89 home runs, 211 RBI and 135 walks, slugging .452 with a .740 OPS. He registered three 20+ home run seasons with the Cubs from 2021-23. In 2025, Wisdom played for the Kia Tigers in South Korea, registering 35 homers and 85 RBI in 119 games.

Wisdom has participated in charitable causes off the field, which includes supporting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Wisdom was the Cubs “Roberto Clemente Award” nominee in 2024.

Donovan, 29, was reinstated on August 4 from the 10-day Injured List. Since returning from the 10-day IL he is batting .283 (15x53) with 3 doubles, 7 RBI and 4 walks in 14 games.

Over 39 games this season, he is batting .277 (38x137) with 12 runs, 7 doubles, 1 triple, 3 home runs, 15 RBI and 15 walks, reaching base a .371 clip with a .780 OPS in 159 plate appearances.

Donovan spent his first 4 seasons (2022-25) with the St. Louis Cardinals and was acquired by Seattle on Feb. 2, 2026 as part of a three-team trade with the Tampa Bay Rays. Defensively, he has appeared exclusively at third base for the Mariners but has also played second base, left field, right field, first base, and shortstop throughout his career. Donovan won a Gold Glove Award in 2022 and made the NL All-Star team in 2025.

In 531 career games between St. Louis (2022-2025) and Seattle (2026-c), he is batting. 282 (536x1902) with 253 runs, 104 doubles, 6 triples, 43 home runs, 217 RBI, 197 walks and 16 stolen bases, reaching base at a .362 clip and slugging .411 for a .772 OPS.
