BOSTON – Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager of Baseball Operations Justin Hollander announced today the following roster moves:
- Cooper Criswell, RHP, reinstated from 60-day Injured List (right shoulder strain).
- Nick Davila, RHP, placed on 15-day Injured List (SC joint sprain).
- Colt Emerson, INF, transferred to 60-day Injured List (left wrist tendon repair).
The Mariners 40-man roster remains full at 40 players.
Criswell, 29, has been on the Injured List since June 9 and made 3 appearances with Triple-A Tacoma on a rehab assignment, tossing 2.2 innings overall. He has appeared in 26 games for the Mariners this season, going 2-1 with a 3.52 ERA (12 ER, 30.2 IP), 8 walks, 23 strikeouts and 1 save.
The 6-foot-6 righty was acquired by Seattle from the New York Mets on January 23 in exchange for cash considerations and made 6 appearances during Spring Training. He has appeared in parts of 5 Major League seasons with the Angels (2021), Rays (2022-23), Red Sox (2024-25) and Mariners (2026), going a combined 10-8 with a 4.32 ERA (89 ER, 185.1 IP), 56 walks and 136 strikeouts over 71 career Major League appearances (21 starts).
Criswell was born in Carrollton, GA and played one season at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (Chapel Hill, NC) before being drafted by the Los Angeles Angels in the 13th round of the 2018 MLB First-Year Player Draft.
Davila (DAH-vee-LAH), 27, was recalled yesterday from Triple-A Tacoma and pitched an inning in last night’s series finale against the Blue Jays. In 24 appearances with the Mariners this season, he is 0-0 with a 4.94 ERA (15 ER, 27.1 IP), 13 strikeouts and 1 save.
In 16 appearances with Triple-A Tacoma and Double-A Arkansas this season, he owns a 2.33 ERA (5 ER, 19.1 IP) with 4 walks, 16 strikeouts, a 1.10 WHIP and 2 saves.
Davila was originally signed as an undrafted free agent by the Detroit Tigers on July 7, 2020. He signed a minor league contract with the Mariners on March 27, 2023. He has appeared in 6 minor league seasons in the Tigers (2021-22) and Mariners (2023-c) organizations, going a combined 18-30 with a 3.90 ERA (156 ER, 360.0 IP), 107 walks and 345 strikeouts in 130 games (42 starts).
The 6-foot-3 right-hander is a Hialeah, Florida native. He played one season at the University of South Florida after transferring from Hillsborough Community College (Tampa, FL).
Emerson, 21, underwent successful surgery to repair a left wrist injury on Wednesday, Aug. 26 with Dr. Sheridan in Arizona. He was placed on the 15-day Injured List on Aug. 14. In 68 Major League games with the Mariners this season, he is batting .190 (42x221) with 6 doubles, 1 triple, 8 home runs, 3 stolen bases and an .581 OPS. He made his MLB debut on May 17 and is the second youngest player to appear in the Majors this season, trailing only Pirates rookie shortstop Konnor Griffin.
The left-handed hitting infielder has appeared in 38 games with Triple-A Tacoma this season, batting .255 (37x145) with 26 runs, 8 doubles, 1 triple, 7 home runs, 26 RBI and 17 walks, reaching base at a .347 clip and slugging .446 for an .837 OPS. Over 262 career minor league games, Emerson is batting .282 (287x1016) with 191 runs, 63 doubles, 8 triples, 29 home runs, 154 RBI, 155 walks and 47 stolen bases, getting on base at a .391 clip, slugging .446 with an .837 OPS.
The left-handed hitting infielder was selected by the Mariners in the 1st round (22nd overall) of the 2023 MLB First-Year Player Draft out of John Glenn High School in New Concord, Ohio. On March 31, 2026, the Mariners announced that Emerson signed a contract extension through 2033, with a club option through 2034.
