Mariners Select OF Curtis Washington Jr. from High-A Everett

OF Randy Arozarena placed on the 10-day Injured List; INF Will Wilson transferred to the 60-day Injured List

SEATTLE – Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager of Baseball Operations Justin Hollander announced today the following roster moves:

  • Curtis Washington Jr. (#0), OF, selected from High-A Everett.
  • Randy Arozarena, OF, placed on the 10-day Injured List (left hamstring strain, retroactive to June 13).
  • Will Wilson, INF, transferred to the 60-day Injured List (fractured left thumb).

Washington Jr., 26, will make his Major League debut if he appears in a game. He is currently batting .190 (27x142) with 8 doubles, 7 home runs, 22 RBI, 14 stolen bases and 17 walks in 44 games for High-A Everett this season.

The 6-foot-2, 180-pound outfielder has appeared in center and left field, and as the designated hitter this season for the Aquasox. Washington Jr. hit for the cycle on May 23, 2025 going 5-for-6 with 2 doubles, 1 triple and a home run with Single-A Modesto last season.

The West Memphis Native was originally drafted by Seattle in the 19th round of the 2022 MLB First-Year Player Draft. Overall, he is batting .219 (184x840) with 37 doubles, 8 triples, 12 home runs, 97 RBI, 82 stolen bases and 95 walks in 5 minor league seasons with the Seattle organization.

Arozarena (ah-row-sah-RAY-nah), 31, is batting .291 (76x261) with 47 runs, 18 doubles, 1 triple, 7 home runs, 33 RBI, 19 stolen bases and 28 walks with a .377 on-base percentage, .448 slugging percentage and .826 OPS. Arozarena had appeared in each of the Mariners first 71 games of the season.

The left fielder has been one of the best outfielders in the American League this season and currently leads the Mariners in wins above replacement (2.6) per Baseball Reference. The two-time AL All-Star made it to the Midsummer Classic with Seattle last season as part of a 27 homer, 31 stolen base campaign, which marked his fifth consecutive “20/20” season. This season, Arozarena’s 19 stolen bases rank 6th in the Majors.

Arozarena was acquired by Seattle from the Tampa Bay in exchange for minor leaguers Brody Hopkins, Aidan Smith, and a player to be named later on July 26, 2024. The Cuba native has appeared in 285 games with Seattle since 2024, batting .250 (268x1073) with 174 runs, 64 doubles, 2 triples, 39 homers, 132 RBI, 54 steals and 120 walks, posting a .349 on-base percentage, .422 slugging percentage and .771 OPS. Randy appeared in 6 Major League seasons with the St. Louis Cardinals (2019) and Tampa Bay Rays (2020-24) prior to being acquired by the Mariners.

Wilson, 27, was originally placed on the 10-day Injured List on May 2. He appeared in 2 games with Seattle, batting .200 (1x5) with 1 home run and 2 RBI. He hit his first career home run in his first plate appearance with the Mariners. In 17 games with Triple-A Tacoma this year, Wilson is batting .314 (16x51) with 8 runs, 3 doubles, 1 homer, 6 RBI and 9 walks with a .841 OPS. The right-handed hitting infielder has also appeared in 34 Major League games with Cleveland in 2025, batting .192 (15x78).

The North Carolina native was originally selected by the Los Angeles Angels in the 1st round (15th overall) of the 2019 MLB First-Year Player Draft out of North Carolina State University in Raleigh. He was traded by the Angels to the Giants on Dec. 10, 2019 in a deal that involved infielder Zack Cozart, and selected by Cleveland in the 2024 Rule 5 Draft from San Francisco.
