Matthew and Ashley Boyd to host fundraiser for Kingdom Home on May 20

Tigers players will help raise money to support the mission of the Boyds’ nonprofit

April 23rd, 2019

Detroit Tigers pitcher Matthew Boyd and his wife, Ashley, have dedicated their time and efforts off the field to provide a home of refuge, restoration, and hope for children at risk of entering child sex slavery. In partnership with Big League Impact, the Boyds will host an evening of competition and fun at the new Topgolf facility in Auburn Hills, Michigan. All proceeds from the event will directly benefit Kingdom Home.

As part of the VIP event, participants who purchase a ticket will compete among their family, friends, and colleagues in a Topgolf tournament for prizes against Matthew and other Detroit Tigers players. Those attending will get to meet and mingle with Tigers players, and Matthew and Ashley will share their platform and experiences surrounding their nonprofit, Kingdom Home.

“Through Kingdom Home, Ashley and I hope to positively impact the lives of many girls who are at risk of losing both their innocence and childhood,” Matthew said. “Thanks to Topgolf and our supporters, the event will help us provide the necessary resources to protect the girls in our home and more. We hope Tigers fans in the metro Detroit community will come out and join us!”

In March, the Boyds hosted their first-ever fundraising event of this kind at the Topgolf in Tampa, Florida. Tigers players and participants in attendance helped raise over $40,000 and sponsored 20 children.

Over the last six years, Big League Impact’s initiatives have expanded to include dozens of Major League Baseball players and causes. Founded in 2013 by St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Adam Wainwright, the organization raised over $1,000,000 last year and has raised over $3,000,000 to support over 60 player projects that provide clean water, food, humanitarian aid, health care, education, sustainable farming, and infrastructure to those in need.

The Boyds’ events are the first of a number of Topgolf fundraising events that Big League Impact players are hosting throughout the 2019 Major League Baseball season.

“Our organization exists so that players can create campaigns to raise funds and awareness for causes they truly care about that help alleviate suffering here and around the world,” said Raymond St. Martin, executive director of Big League Impact. “It’s such an honor to work with Matt and Ashley — their hearts are genuine, and their passion for these children is authentic.”
