Mets Activate LHP Josh Smoker; Designate RHP Neil Ramirez

The New York Mets announced today that they have recalled LHP Josh Smoker from his rehabilitation assignment and activated him from the Disabled List. Smoker will wear #49 and will be available for today's game. In order to make room on the 25-man roster, the Mets designated RHP Neil Ramirez for assignment.

The New York Mets announced today that they have recalled LHP Josh Smoker from his rehabilitation assignment and activated him from the Disabled List. Smoker will wear #49 and will be available for today's game. In order to make room on the 25-man roster, the Mets designated RHP Neil Ramirez for assignment.
Smoker, 28, worked 5.1 innings in five rehabilitation appearances with Binghamton (AA) of the Eastern League and St. Lucie (A) of the Florida State League. Smoker allowed eight hits and two runs. He was placed on the DL on June 14 with a left shoulder strain.
Smoker is 1-2 with a 7.45 ERA (24 earned runs/29.0 innings) and 36 strikeouts in 22 games in relief for New York this season. Smoker was 3-0 with a 4.70 ERA (eight earned runs/15.1 innings) in 20 games with the Mets in 2016.
Ramirez was 0-1 with a 7.18 ERA in 29 games combined with the Giants and Mets.
