Mets recall Rhame; option Oswalt to Triple-A Las Vegas

The New York Mets today announced that the club has recalled RHP Jacob Rhame from Las Vegas (AAA) of the Pacific Coast League and optioned RHP Corey Oswalt to Las Vegas.

FLUSHING, N.Y., April 27, 2018 - The New York Mets today announced that the club has recalled RHP Jacob Rhame from Las Vegas (AAA) of the Pacific Coast League and optioned RHP Corey Oswalt to Las Vegas. Rhame will wear #35 and will be available tonight at San Diego. In addition, the Mets claimed LHP Buddy Baumann off waivers from San Diego. Baumann will be optioned to Las Vegas (AAA). In order to make room on the 40-man roster, David Wright was transferred to the 60-Day Disabled List.
Rhame, 25, began the year with the Mets before he was optioned to the 51s on April 13. He recorded one save (April 8 at Washington) and posted a 7.36 ERA (three earned runs/3.2 innings) in four outings for New York this year.
The 6-1, 215-pounder was 0-1 with one save and a 9.00 ERA (four earned runs/4.0 innings) in four games with Las Vegas this year.
Rhame was acquired by the Mets in the trade that sent Curtis Granderson to the Dodgers last August.
He is 1-1 with one save and an 8.53 ERA (12 earned runs/12.2 innings) in 13 career major league games.
Baumann, 30, appeared in one game for the Padres this year, allowing five runs (two earned) in 0.1 inning. In addition, he has hurled 6.2 scoreless innings in eight outings with El Paso (AAA) of the Pacific Coast League this season. Last year, Baumann went 2-1 with a 2.55 ERA (five earned runs/17.2 innings) with 21 strikeouts in 23 games with San Diego.
In parts of three major league seasons with the Padres, the 5-11, 198-pounder is 3-2 with a 3.58 ERA (11 earned runs/27.2 innings) with 31 strikeouts.
Oswalt, 24, made his major league debut on April 25 at St. Louis with 4.2 innings of relief.
