Mets recall RHP Gerson Bautista from Binghamton (AA) option RHP Hansel Robles

The New York Mets today announced that the club has recalled RHP Gerson Bautista from Binghamton (AA) of the Eastern League and optioned RHP Hansel Robles to Las Vegas (AAA) of the Pacific Coast League.

The New York Mets today announced that the club has recalled RHP Gerson Bautista from Binghamton (AA) of the Eastern League and optioned RHP Hansel Robles to Las Vegas (AAA) of the Pacific Coast League. Bautista will wear #46 and will be available tonight vs. Washington. Bautista's first appearance will be his major league debut.

Bautista, 22, has tossed 5.0 scoreless innings for Binghamton (AA) with 11 strikeouts over three games this year. He has allowed two hits and has not permitted a walk.

The 6-3, 195-pounder was acquired from Boston along with RHP Jamie Callahan and RHP Stephen Nogosek in exchange for RHP Addison Reed on July 31, 2017.

Bautista went 0-1 with five saves, a 1.26 ERA (two earned runs/14.1 innings) and 20 strikeouts for St. Lucie (A) of the Florida State League after the trade last season.

Bautista is 9-11 with 15 saves and a 2.58 ERA (61 earned runs/213.0 innings) in 88 career minor league games, 23 starts. He has struck out 193 during that span.

He worked 5.2 innings in Spring Training this year, allowing seven hits, four runs (6.35 ERA), issued four walks and struck out eight.

Robles was 2-0 with a 3.38 ERA (three earned runs/8.0 innings) in eight games with New York.
