Mike Marjama suspended

May 2nd, 2019

The Office of the Commissioner of Baseball announced today that retired catcher Mike Marjama, who has recently applied to the Commissioner for reinstatement from the Voluntary Retired List, has received an 80-game suspension without pay after testing positive for Oxandrolone, a performance-enhancing substance, in violation of Major League Baseball’s Joint Drug Prevention and Treatment Program.

The suspension of Marjama, who at the time of his retirement was on optional assignment to Triple-A Tacoma of the Pacific Coast League, is effective immediately. Marjama’s application for reinstatement will be ruled on by the Commissioner upon completion of his 80-game suspension.
