Red Sox first baseman Mitch Moreland and his wife Susannah ask fans attending the Red Sox-Twins games on Thursday, July 26, through Saturday, July 28, to join them in donating new toys and craft items for children being treated at Boston Children's Hospital.
Donations to the "Christmas in July" collection will be accepted at Gate A and D from the time gates open at 5:40 p.m. through the 2nd inning of each game. Items need to be brand new and appropriate for infants, toddlers, and teens. The hospital has a particular need for stacking cups and rings, music or light up toys, DVDs, and playing cards, as well as individual craft and Lego sets, Play Doh, crayons, markers, and crafting paper. A full list of requested items is attached.
The donated items will be dropped off at Boston Children's Hospital by the Morelands on Monday, July 30, at 11 a.m. when they will visit with patients and make their own donation to the hospital. Media interested in covering the visit are asked to RSVP in advance to Boston Children's Hospital by emailing [email protected] or calling 617-919-3110.
