Nationals announce 2019 Opening Day roster

March 27th, 2019

The Washington Nationals announced their 2019 Opening Day roster on Wednesday. In addition, Washington selected the contract of infielder Jake Noll, placed right-handed pitcher Koda Glover (right forearm strain), infielder Howie Kendrick (left hamstring strain) and outfielder Michael A. Taylor (left knee/hip sprain) on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to March 25. Nationals President of Baseball Operations and General Manager Mike Rizzo made the announcements.

The Nationals 25-man roster is comprised of 12 pitchers, two catchers, seven infielders, and four outfielders.

Noll, 25, made the Opening Day roster after hitting .314 (16-for-51) with four doubles, two homers, 10 RBI, five walks and 12 runs scored in 27 Grapefruit League games. His versatility allowed him to appear at third base (14 games), first base (10 games) and second base (3 games).

A seventh-round selection in the 2016 First-Year Player Draft, Noll was the recipient of Washington’s “Bob Boone” Award following the 2018 season. He hit .291 with 20 doubles, four triples, 11 home runs, 72 RBI, 33 walks, seven stolen bases and 82 runs scored in 132 games between Single-A Potomac and Double-A Harrisburg. His 72 RBI were the most in Washington’s Minor League system, while his .291 batting average was good for eighth.
