The Oakland Athletics have hired Adam Buckfelder as Vice President of Finance, the club announced today. In his role, Buckfelder will oversee the club's financial affairs, including accounting and financial planning & analysis.
"We're thrilled that Adam is joining our team. His deep finance and leadership experience will be key assets to our organization as we continue to progress our vision for a new ballpark in Oakland," said Oakland A's Chief Operating Officer Chris Giles.
Prior to joining the A's, Buckfelder served as Chief Financial Officer of Spruce Finance, a consumer finance company focused on energy efficiency improvements. During his seven years, he led the firm's capital markets, FP&A and financial operations functions. He also successfully managed strategic initiatives, including the 2015 merger of Clean Power Finance and Kilowatt Financial to form Spruce Finance and the firm's restructuring and business model shift between an asset origination and asset management platform. Buckfelder has additional experience in the Investment Banking Division of Barclays Capital and served as a Lieutenant in the US Navy for five years. Buckfelder has a BS in Quantitative Economics from the United States Naval Academy and a MBA from Harvard Business School.
