Padres Announce 2026 Opening Day Roster

SAN DIEGO, Calif. – The San Diego Padres have finalized their Opening Day 26-man roster, President of Baseball Operations & General Manager A.J. Preller announced today.

The club has selected the contracts of right-handed pitcher Walker Buehler and infielder Ty France, and placed RHP Yu Darvish on the Restricted List. With today’s moves, the Padres currently have a full 40-man roster.

Right-handed pitchers Jason Adam (left quad surgery), Griffin Canning (left Achilles surgery), Bryan Hoeing (right elbow surgery), Joe Musgrove (right elbow inflammation) and Matt Waldron (surgery) and left-handed pitcher Yuki Matsui (left groin strain) have been placed on the 15-day Injured List. Infielders Sung-Mun Song (right oblique strain) and Will Wagner (right oblique strain) have been placed on the 10-day Injured List.

The Opening Day roster features 10 right-handed pitchers, three left-handers, two catchers, seven infielders and four outfielders.

  • INF (7): Miguel Andujar**,** Xander Bogaerts, Nick Castellanos, Jake Cronenworth, Ty France, Manny Machado, Gavin Sheets
  • OF (4): Bryce Johnson, Ramón Laureano, Jackson Merrill, Fernando Tatis Jr.

The Padres open up the 2026 season tomorrow, March 26, at Petco Park against the Detroit Tigers. First pitch is set for 1:10 p.m. PST (Pacific Standard Time).
