Gott, 58, spent the last five seasons (2013-17) as the minor league pitching coordinator for the Los Angeles Angels. Prior to that, he spent three years (2010-12) as pitching coach for the Arizona League Angels. A veteran of 14 major league seasons, Gott posted a 3.87 ERA over 554 appearances with the Toronto Blue Jays (1982-84), San Francisco Giants (1985-87), Pittsburgh Pirates (1987-89; 1995) and Los Angeles Dodgers (1990-94).
Previously, the Phillies retained Rick Kranitz to a yet unspecified role and hired John Mallee as hitting coach and Dusty Wathan as third base coach. The Phillies will announce the remainder of their coaching staff as roles are filled.
