Phillies announce Spring Training non-roster invitees

The Phillies have signed the following four players to Minor League contracts with invitations to attend Major League Spring Training as non-roster invitees:

Christian Bethancourt, C -- The 29-year-old rejoins the Phillies after spending 2020 spring training with the organization. A right-handed-hitting catcher, Bethancourt has spent parts of seven seasons in the majors with the Atlanta Braves (2013-15) and San Diego Padres (2016-17), batting .222 with 20 doubles, eight home runs and 46 RBI in 161 games. He has thrown out 17 of 54 attempted base stealers in his career (31.5%). Bethancourt, who hails from Panama, was originally signed by Atlanta as an amateur free agent in 2008.

Neftalí Feliz, RHP -- A 32-year-old right-hander, Feliz has a 3.49 career ERA over 357 appearances (seven starts). The 2010 American League Rookie of the Year winner has converted 107 of his 128 career save opportunities over a nine-year career, which is highlighted by an All-Star appearance in 2010, a season in which he went 40-for-43 in saves and posted a 2.73 ERA in 70 games. He last pitched in the majors in 2017, when he made 29 appearances for the Milwaukee Brewers and 20 appearances for the Kansas City Royals.

Ronald Torreyes, INF -- Torreyes, 28, spent a majority of the 2020 season at the Phillies’ alternate training site in Lehigh Valley, and made four starts for the club in mid-September. The Venezuela native has appeared in 240 career games with the Los Angeles Dodgers (2015), New York Yankees (2016-18), Minnesota Twins (2019) and Phillies, making at least 45 starts each at second base, third base and shortstop while also appearing at all three outfield positions. Torreyes, who was originally signed by the Cincinnati Reds as an amateur free agent from Venezuela in 2010, is a career .277 hitter, batting a career-high .292 in 108 games for New York in 2017.

Michael Ynoa, RHP -- Ynoa, 29, has pitched in parts of two major league seasons (2016-17), going 2-0 with a 4.42 ERA in 45 career relief appearances for the Chicago White Sox. His last appearance in the majors was in July 2017. The 6-foot-7 righty recently pitched for Aguilas Cibaenas in the 2020-21 Dominican Winter League, posting a 2.13 ERA with 18 strikeouts in 13 games (12.2 IP). Over eight minor league seasons, Ynoa is 11-16 with a 4.38 ERA and has averaged 9.40 strikeouts per 9.0 innings in 144 career games (36 starts). A native of the Dominican Republic, he was originally signed by the Oakland Athletics as an amateur free agent in July 2008.
