Pirates Announce 2023 Regular Season Schedule

The Pittsburgh Pirates today released the 2023 regular season schedule, which will be highlighted by visits to PNC Park by 22 different teams as part of Major League Baseball’s new scheduling format.

The Pirates will open the 2023 campaign on Thursday, March 30, at Cincinnati with a three-game series against the Reds followed by three games at Boston from April 3-5.

The Pirates will return to Pittsburgh to face the Chicago White Sox in the Home Opener for the first time in team history with the beginning of a three-game series from April 7-9. The first homestand will conclude with a three-game series against the Astros from April 10-12, which will be Houston’s first trip back to PNC Park since 2016.

Other highlights of the 2023 regular season schedule include:

  • May 26 thru May 31: A six-game road trip to Seattle and San Francisco, which will be the team’s first trip to Seattle since 2016.
  • June 2 thru June 11: A nine-game homestand against St. Louis, Oakland and the New York Mets. The visit by Oakland will be the fourth series the A’s will play in Pittsburgh since PNC Park opened in 2001.
  • July 14 thru July 19: A six-game homestand against San Francisco and the Cleveland Guardians.
  • July 28 thru August 2: A five-game homestand against cross-state rival Philadelphia Phillies along with a two-game series against the Detroit Tigers.
  • August 21 thru August 27: A seven-game homestand against National League Central rivals Chicago Cubs and St. Louis Cardinals.
  • September 11 thru September 17: A seven-game homestand against the Washington Nationals and New York Yankees.
  • September 29 thru October 1: The Pirates end the regular season with three games at home against the Miami Marlins.
