Pirates Return to PNC Park for the Sixth Homestand of 2019

The Pirates return to PNC Park for the sixth homestand of the season as the team hosts the Detroit Tigers for two games and the San Diego Padres for a three-game weekend series.  

This homestand is highlighted by Stranger Things Night complete with an appearance by Priah Ferguson and a postgame fireworks display set to 80’s music on Friday, June 21; Faith Night with a postgame program on Saturday, June 22 and Kids Day on Sunday, June 23.

Tuesday, June 18, 2019 -- Pirates vs. Detroit Tigers (7:05 p.m.)

· Pup Night: Fans can enjoy Bucco baseball with their pooch as the Pirates present one of 12 Pup Nights at PNC Park. Each ticket package (1 person & 1 dog) costs just $36 with additional human tickets available for $36 each. A portion of the proceeds benefit local animal shelters and seats are limited and subject to availability. · Pirates Play Ball Team of the Game: The Pirates continue the season-long initiative honoring a youth baseball/softball team of the game during every Tuesday home game. Tonight, the Pirates will honor the Hollidaysburg Tigers VFW (13- and 14-year-old division) as the Play Ball Team of the Game, presented by Nike. Team member Landon Perry won the Regional Round of the Jr. Home Run Derby and will now be one of just 10 kids to compete at the MLB All-Star Weekend Jr. Home Run Derby at Progressive Field in Cleveland.

· Positive Athlete Night: The Pirates are partnering with Positive Athlete Foundation to honor student athletes representing 30 different boys’ and girls’ sports and two coaches who have been selected as the 2019 Western Pennsylvania Positive Athlete Award Winners. This program celebrates high school student athletes for their positive contributions to their communities, overcoming difficult circumstances with a positive attitude, and inspiring those around them. This year’s Positive Athlete winners will be recognized tonight in a pregame on-field ceremony.

· Diaz Shoe Drive: Pirates catcher Elias Diaz has partnered with Pirates Charities to launch his “Shoes for Venezuela” campaign, a shoe drive held throughout PNC Park to benefit youth of Diaz’s home country of Venezuela. Tonight, fans are encouraged to bring new shoes to the donation bins placed at one of the six Pirates Charites 50/50 Raffle kiosks around the ballpark. As a special thank you, all fans who donate a pair of new shoes during the drive will receive an invite to an Elias Diaz meet and greet on June 20 at a Pittsburgh area shoe store.

Wednesday, June 19, 2019 -- Pirates vs. Detroit Tigers (7:05 p.m.)

  • PLAY Clinic at PNC Park: Today, the Pittsburgh Pirates Training Staff and Medical Team are hosting a free sports educational workshop called PLAY- Promoting a Lifetime of Activity for Youth- at PNC Park for youth ages 8 to 17 years old from 10 a.m. to noon. The PLAY program is an initiative of the Professional Baseball Athletic Trainers Society, The Taylor Hooton Foundation, and Major League Baseball Charities. PLAY is based upon using the celebrity appeal of Major League Baseball and all of its teams and players to help educate young people and promote a healthy and active lifestyle. The youth are divided into groups and rotate through a series of four active on-field stations, in addition to a “Hoots Chalk Talk” with the Taylor Hooton Foundation about the dangers of steroid abuse.
  • Brault Meet Up: Today from noon to 1 p.m. Steven Brault will meet with fans and sign autographs at the Cranberry Township PNC Bank (1340 Freedom Rd, Cranberry Township 16066).

· Stranger Things Night: Tonight, the Pirates will host an escape from the Upside Down as Stranger Things Night comes to PNC Park, with a special appearance by Priah Ferguson. · Domestic Violence Awareness Night: Tonight, the Pirates will host a special pregame on-field ceremony for local Domestic Violence prevention organizations to recognize the 2019 PA Coalition Against Domestic Violence (PCADV) Excellence in Male Leadership Award Winner, Jason Nesbitt. The award is hosted by the PCADVas part of the Engaging Men Campaign, a campaign that calls men as allies and shows them how they can participate in preventing domestic violence. · Zambelli Fireworks: Following the game, fans are encouraged to stay in their seats for a special Zambelli Fireworks display, presented by IBEW Local #5. The display will be set to 80’s music in honor of Staranger Things Night.

  • Miller Lite Happy Hour: Tonight, and every Friday Night home game, the Pirates will host a special Happy Hour, presented by Miller Lite, at the Crow’s Nest from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Visit the Arnold Palmer Spiked Bar at the Crow’s Nest for live music by guitarist Michael Todd, as well as discounted cans of Miller Lite, Leinenkugel’s Summer Shandy, Blue Moon and Arnold Palmer Spiked.

Saturday, June 22, 2019 -- Pirates vs. San Diego Padres (4:05 p.m.)

· Pitch, Hit, and Run: The Pirates will host the top 12 baseball and top 12 softball qualifiers from Pennsylvania and West Virginia for the annual MLB Pitch, Hit, and Run Team Championship on the field at PNC Park. Winners will be honored on the field pre-game today. Pitch, Hit & Run is an exciting baseball/softball skills competition that provides boys and girls, ages seven to 14, the opportunity to showcase their pitching, hitting and running abilities. Competitors in the Team Championship, one hosted by each MLB Club, have earned their way by winning their Local and Sectional competitions. The top scores nationwide at Team Championships earn an all-expense paid trip to the MLB All-Star Game in Cleveland to compete in the National Finals competition.

· Meet Al: Today, Pirates alumni Al Oliver will meet and greet fans and sign autographs in the Jim Beam Left Field Lounge for one hour beginning in the second inning of the game.

· Faith Night: Tonight, the Pirates will host the seventh annual Faith Night, presented by La Roche University, at PNC Park. Following the game, fans will relocate to sections along the first base line to hear from their favorite Pirate players and coaches as they share their personal experiences with how their faith has influenced both their lives and their careers in baseball specifically.   • University Night with Edinboro: Tonight, the Pirates will host University Night with Edinboro University. All fans who purchase University Night tickets will receive a ticket in one of two special sections and a Pirates/Edinboro hat. Sunday, June 23, 2019 -- Pirates vs. San Diego Padres (1:35 p.m.) Kids Day at PNC Park

· Kids Day: Come down early and join the fun as the Family Fun Zone will be open on Federal Street from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Lined up outside PNC Park will be inflatable rides, baseball games, face painting, information about the Bucaroos Kids Club, presented by Chick-fil-A, and more.

· Bucco Bingo: Today, join the Pirates for a special Bucco Bingo with Steve Blass and other Pirates Alumni. Each ticket purchased through Pirates.com/bingo includes entrance to Bucco Bingo and a pregame meal. The fun begins at 10:30 a.m. and lasts to 1 p.m. in the Picnic Park. *All attendees will receive a prize but additional prizes will not be awarded to bingo winners.

· All-Star Teacher Recognition: Today in a pregame on-field ceremony, the Pirates will recognize the All-Star Teachers for the month of May: John Kopp, IU1 Waynesburg; Matthew Cheran, Peters Township Middle School; and Kevin Willis, Carmichaels Area Senior High School. These deserving teachers receive tickets in the Pirates Charities Suite for the game, a personalized jersey, and a contribution of $1,000 to be used in their classroom. This season, the Pirates and Pirates Charities teamed up with Chevron and The Grable Foundation with support from Allegheny Intermediate Unit, and Intermediate Unit One to recognize outstanding teachers in our region and give them the thanks and acknowledgement that they deserve for their contributions to our community. The All-Star Teacher award honors teachers who make a significant difference in the lives of students across the region by providing engaging instruction and curriculum, encouraging lifelong learning, and inspiring a passion for education beyond the classroom and into the future.

· Kids Josh Bell Jersey: Today, all kids ages 14 and younger, with paid admission, will receive a black replica Josh Bell jersey with the gold alternate “P,” presented by Chevrolet.

· Kids Run the Bases: Kids attending today’s game are invited to stick around after to run the bases on the field at PNC Park with the Kids Run the Bases, presented by Rivendale Farms.

· Youth Baseball and Softball Day: Today is a special Youth Baseball and Softball Day at PNC Park. All players and coaches to register as a team will participate in a special pre-game ceremony on the field for Youth Baseball and Softball Days, presented by Augustine’s Pizza. Kids can run the bases following the game. Players and coaches are encouraged to wear their team’s jersey. Youth Baseball and Softball participants are invited to the special pre-game Chalk Talk from 11 to 11:30 a.m. with a Pirates player and coaches. The special Q&A session will take place in the right field level box seating sections.

Monday, June 24, 2019 – Off Day

·Sporting Clays Event: Pirates Charities and Pirates Chairman Bob Nutting will host the 11th annual Pirates Charities Sporting Clays Invitational. Participants at this event have the unique opportunity to spend the day with current and former Pirates players, broadcasters and front office executives while enjoying the Sporting Clays complex at scenic Seven Springs Mountain Resort. Most importantly, participants support the work of Pirates Charities through this annual fundraiser.

Pirates Charities 50/50 Raffles

The Pirates Charities 50/50 Raffle, supported by Rivers Casino, will take place during each Pirates home game throughout the season. Raffle ticket prices are two (2) tickets for $5, 5 tickets for $10, 20 tickets for $20 and 80 tickets for $40 with all proceeds benefiting Pirates Charities. Raffle ticket sales close after the last out in the sixth inning. The winning number will be drawn and announced in the 8th inning and the winner will receive 50 percent of the total pot.
