Pirates Intend To Recall Outfielder Austin Meadows

The Pittsburgh Pirates tonight announced that the club intends to recall outfielder Austin Meadows from Triple-A Indianapolis tomorrow. The team will make a corresponding move on the 25-man active roster prior to tomorrow's game to make room for Meadows.

The Pittsburgh Pirates tonight announced that the club intends to recall outfielder Austin Meadows from Triple-A Indianapolis tomorrow. The team will make a corresponding move on the 25-man active roster prior to tomorrow's game to make room for Meadows. 
 
The 23-year-old Meadows is hitting .294 (37-for-126) with 10 doubles, one home run, 15 RBI, 20 runs scored and eight stolen bases this season at Indianapolis. He also hit safely in each of his last seven games with the Indians, going 13-for-33 (.394) with four doubles and seven RBI. 
 
Meadows was selected ninth overall (first round compensation) in the 2013 First-Year Player Draft by the Pirates. He entered this season ranked by Baseball America as Pittsburgh's second-best prospect and as the "Best Athlete" in the organization. 
 
Meadows, who has no previous big league experience, will wear uniform #17.
