The Pittsburgh Pirates today placed catcher Francisco Cervelli on the seven-day concussion injured list.
Infielder/outfielder Jake Elmore has been designated for assignment.
The club has recalled infielder/outfielder José Osuna from Triple-A Indianapolis. Osuna began the season on the 10-day injured list with lower neck discomfort before being recalled from rehab, reinstated from the injured list and optioned to Triple-A on May 3.
Osuna hit .268 (19-for-71) with seven doubles, one triple, two home runs and 13 RBI in 19 games this season with Indianapolis. He will wear uniform #36.
The Pirates have also selected the contract of catcher Jacob Stallings from Indianapolis. Stallings was a member of Pittsburgh’s Opening Day roster before being placed on the 10-day injured list with a cervical neck strain on April 21. He was recalled from his rehab assignment, reinstated from the injured list and outrighted to Triple-A on May 17.
Stallings hit .275 (14-for-51) with nine doubles, two homers and seven RBI in 15 games this season with Indianapolis.
