Pirates set 40-man roster

The Pittsburgh Pirates have added the following five players to their 40-man roster. There are now 40 players on the current roster (22 pitchers, two catchers, 10 infielders and six outfielders).

Blake Cederlind (RHP) - Went a combined 5-2 with four saves, a 2.28 ERA (59.1ip/15er), 55 strikeouts, two home runs allowed and a .211 batting average against in 41 relief appearances with Single-A Bradenton, Double-A Altoona and Triple-A Indianapolis in 2019 ... Recorded a 1.69 ERA (53.1ip/10er) in 38 combined appearances between Bradenton and Altoona before being promoted to Triple-A on August 22 ... Went 1-1 with a 1.18 ERA (8.0ip/1er) in eight relief appearances while pitching for the Peoria Javelinas in the Arizona Fall League ... Is currently rated as Pittsburgh's 24th-best prospect by Baseball America (28th by MLBPipeline) ... Was selected by the Pirates in the fifth round of the 2016 First-Year Player Draft.

Will Craig (INF) - Took home a Rawlings Gold Glove award this past season after posting a .999 fielding percentage in 111 games at first base with Triple-A Indianapolis (made just one error in 886 total chances) ... Hit .249 (123-for-494) with 23 doubles, 23 home runs and 78 RBI in 131 games in 2019 with Indianapolis ... Finished tied for sixth in the International League in RBI last season ... Is currently rated as Pittsburgh's 10th-best prospect according to MLBPipeline ... Represented the Pirates organization at the 2019 All-Star Futures Game in Cleveland ... Was selected by the Pirates in the first round (22nd pick overall) in the 2016 First-Year Player Draft.

Oneil Cruz (INF) - Is currently rated as Pittsburgh's third-best prospect according to MLBPipeline (#9 shortstop and #57 among the top 100 prospects in the game according to Pipeline) ... Hit a combined .298 (79-for-265) with 15 doubles, four triples, eight home runs and 34 RBI in 73 games between Bradenton, Altoona and the GCL Pirates (rehab) in 2019 ... Took home Florida State League Player-of-the-Month honors for the month of July ... Became the 11th player in Altoona history to join the Curve at age 20 or younger ... Was acquired by the Pirates from the Los Angeles Dodgers on July 31, 2017.

Ke'Bryan Hayes (INF) - Is currently rated as Pittsburgh's second-best prospect according to MLBPipeline (#2 third baseman and #36 among the top 100 prospects in the game according to Pipeline) ... Became the second player to win a Rawlings Minor League Baseball Gold Glove award three years in a row, joining third baseman Ramon Conde from 1959-61 ... Led all of minor league baseball with a .989 fielding percentage in 107 games played at third base between Indianapolis and West Virginia (rehab) in 2019 ... Has been charged with just 17 errors in 331 games (872 total chances) over the last three seasons ... Hit .265 (113-for-427) with 30 doubles, two triples, 10 home runs and 53 RBI in 110 games with Indianapolis in 2019 ... Was Pittsburgh's supplemental first round selection (32nd pick overall) in the 2015 First-Year Player Draft.

Cody Ponce (RHP) - Went a combined 2-6 with two saves, a 4.14 ERA (63.0ip/29er) and 70 strikeouts in 34 games (five starts) between Biloxi (Brewers' AA), Altoona and Indianapolis in 2019 ... Posted a 1.74 ERA (31.0ip/6er) in his first 21 appearances in 2019 with Biloxi ... Was acquired by the Pirates on July 29 from the Milwaukee Brewers ... Went 2-1 with a 2.35 ERA (23.0ip/6er) and 27 strikeouts in five appearances (five starts) while pitching for the Peoria Javelinas in the Arizona Fall League ... Went 1-1 with a 2.03 ERA (13.1ip/3er) in three starts for Team USA in the 2019 WBSC Premier 12 Tournament.

Additionally, the Pirates have designated RHP Dario Agrazal, RHP Montana DuRapau, RHP Luis Escobar and LHP Williams Jerez for assignment.
