OAKLAND, Calif. – The Oakland A’s agreed to terms with RHP Deolis Guerra and catcher Carlos Pérez on minor league contracts with an invite to Spring Training, the club announced today. The A’s also announced that minor league catcher Kyle McCann has been invited to Spring Training.
Guerra was on the Opening Day roster for Philadelphia last year and went 1-3 with an 8.59 ERA in nine relief appearances before he was designated for assignment Aug. 22. He is 8-5 with a 4.81 ERA in 83 relief appearances over five seasons in the majors with the Pirates (2015), Angels (2016-17), Brewers (2019) and Phillies (2020). Pérez was a non-roster invitee with the A’s last spring and went 4-for-13 (.308) with three doubles and two RBI in seven games. He was added to the A’s 60-man player pool but did not play in 2020. McCann was the A’s fourth round selection in the 2019 First-Year Player Draft and batted .211 with nine home runs and 32 RBI in 60 games with the Arizona A’s and Short-Season Vermont in his professional debut in 2019. He was added to the A’s 60-man player pool in 2020 but did not play.
The A’s Spring Training roster features 60 players, including 39 on the 40-man roster and 21 non-roster invitees.
