OAKLAND, Calif. – ­­­­The Oakland A’s optioned right-handed pitcher James Kaprielian and outfielder Seth Brown to their alternate site, the club announced today. The moves come at today’s deadline to reduce the active roster to 28 players. The 28-player limit will remain in effect through the remainder of the season.

Kaprielian was recalled from the A’s alternate site in San Jose on Tuesday but did not appear in a game. He combined for a 4-3 record and a 3.18 ERA in 19 games, including 16 starts, with Single-A Stockton, Double-A Midland and Triple-A Las Vegas last year and did not pitch this spring.

Brown went 0-for-3 in three games, including one start at designated hitter on Sunday. He hit .324 with eight RBI in 17 games this spring after batting .293 with no home runs and 13 RBI in 26 games in his Major League debut with Oakland last year.
