Oakland A's promote D'Lonra Ellis to Vice President, General Counsel

OAKLAND, Calif. – The Oakland Athletics have promoted D’Lonra Ellis to Vice President, General Counsel, the Club announced today. In this role, she will work on all of the organization’s legal matters, including its intellectual property, real estate, employment, and commercial matters.

“Since joining the A’s in 2017, D’Lonra has provided a unique perspective and vision to the way we do our business. This promotion recognizes her contributions to our success and her strengths as a leader,” said Oakland A’s President Dave Kaval, “D’Lonra’s passion for the A’s and vast expertise will be critical as we move toward our goal of building a new Oakland waterfront ballpark and continuing our focus of being a best-in-class organization.”

Prior to joining the Club, Ellis was the General Counsel of Aspire Public Schools, a nonprofit charter management organization that runs over 35 schools in California and Tennessee. She has additional experience as a Director and Senior Corporate Counsel in the intellectual property, marketing, and advertising group at Gap, Inc.; and as an associate in the litigation practice of Howard Rice Nemerovski Canady Falk and Rabkin (now Arnold & Porter). 

Ellis is an Adjunct Professor at UC Hastings College of Law. She also sits on the Board of Seven Stories Institute, which runs a nonprofit bookstore collective in the Washington Heights neighborhood of New York City. She received her BA in Architecture, Preservation, and Planning from Columbia University and her JD from Stanford Law School. A lifelong A's fan, Ellis is from Richmond, Calif. and attended Bishop O'Dowd High School in Oakland.
