A’s recall RHP Adrián Martínez; option INF Dermis Garcia

OAKLAND, Calif. — The Oakland Athletics recalled right-handed pitcher Adrián Martínez from Triple-A Las Vegas and optioned infielder Dermis Garcia to Las Vegas, the club announced today.

Martínez joins the A’s for the third time this year and is 2-2 with a 6.52 ERA in four starts. He made his Major League debut with a start and win in the second game of the May 10 doubleheader at Detroit and went 1-2 with a 9.00 ERA in three starts during his second stint from June 30 to July 11. The 25-year-old right-hander is 4-6 with a 5.54 ERA and .274 opponents batting average in 16 starts with Las Vegas and went 0-3 with a 5.17 ERA in three starts following his July 12 option from Oakland.

Garcia was selected from Triple-A Las Vegas July 10 and went 5-for-20 (.250) with an RBI in eight games with the A’s in his Major League debut. He started four games at first base and two at designated hitter. Garcia is batting .251 with eight home runs and 30 RBI in 54 games with the Aviators.
