OAKLAND, Calif. – The Oakland A’s selected right-handed pitcher Jordan Weems and added him to the 40-man roster, the club announced today.

Weems was signed by the A’s as a free agent to a minor league contract on Dec. 10, 2019 after spending the first nine seasons of his career in the Boston Red Sox farm system. He was originally selected by the Red Sox in the third round of the 2011 draft as a catcher and transitioned to pitcher midway through the 2016 season. The 27-year-old right-hander compiled a 13-8 record, 15 saves and a 3.87 ERA in 127 career appearances, including two starts, in the minors. Weems has not allowed a run in six games and 6.0 innings for the A’s this spring while holding the opposition to a .190 batting average.

The A’s 40-man roster is now full. It includes 31 active players and one player on the 60-day injured list. The active roster must be reduced to 30 by Opening Day.
