Angels sign Archie Bradley

TEMPE, ARIZ. – The Angels today have agreed to terms on a one-year, $3.75 million contract with RHP Archie Bradley. In a corresponding 40-man roster move, LHP Packy Naughton has been designated for assignment.

Bradley, 29, made 53 appearances for Philadelphia last season, going 7-3 with a 3.71 ERA (51 IP – 21 ER) with 40 strikeouts and just 22 walks. During a 30-game stretch from May 29 – Aug. 12, he went 6-0 with two saves and a 1.52 ERA (29.2 IP – 5 ER). Additionally, he ranked tied for 5th among National League relievers in wins and tied for 10th in opponent GIDP (8). His 55.7% ground ball rate ranked eighth among N.L. relievers (min. 50 IP).

Since moving to the bullpen in 2017, Bradley has gone 20-16 with 30 saves, a 3.09 ERA (285.2 IP – 98 ER) and 299 strikeouts in 274 appearances. He is one of four National League relievers to make at least 50 appearances in each of the last four full seasons, alongside Kenley Jansen, Craig Stammen and Hector Neris. The native of Broken Arrow, OK, was originally selected by Arizona in the first round (seventh overall) in the 2011 First-Year Player Draft. 

For his career, Bradley has compiled a 30-28 record and 3.89 ERA (463 IP – 200 ER) with 465 strikeouts across 308 games (35 starts) with the Diamondbacks (2015-20), Reds (2020) & Phillies (2021).
