Astroline to air live on sportstalk 790 tomorrow

Hot stove show will feature pre-recorded interview with Astros Hall of Famer Larry Dierker

HOUSTON, TX - Astroline, the Astros popular offseason radio show, will air its third episode of 2022 on Thursday on SportsTalk 790 from 6-7 p.m. CT. Astros television broadcaster Todd Kalas will serve as the host for the show, which will feature a pre-recorded interview with Astros Hall of Famer Larry Dierker.

In addition to listening along on SportsTalk 790, the show can also be heard live on the iHeartRadio App.

All Astroline shows, which are presented by Karbach Brewing Company, are scheduled to broadcast on SportsTalk 790, but are subject to change due to scheduling conflicts. Tomorrow’s show is the sixth of a scheduled 10 shows, which will air weekly on Thursdays from 6-7 p.m. CT during the remainder of the offseason. Additional show dates could be added at a later date.

This week’s Astroline will be hosted by Pluckers Wing Bar, which is located at 1400 Shepherd Dr., Houston, Texas, 77007. Kalas will be on hand for tomorrow night’s show. Astroline is open to the public with no admission charge.

In addition to pitching 13 seasons in the Majors with Houston, Larry Dierker impacted the Astros for over 40 years as a broadcaster, front office executive and as one of the greatest managers in franchise history. The franchise-leader in innings pitched, complete games, shutouts and starts, Dierker was a two-time All-Star, posting a 137-117 record and a 3.28 ERA in 345 career games (320 starts) with the Astros. Dierker became the sixth manager in MLB history to lead his club to a division title in his first season, and led the Astros to four division titles in his five seasons. In 1998, Dierker was named the NL Manager of the Year.

Kalas enters his sixth season as the Astros lead play-by-play television broadcaster. Kalas, who is the son of Hall of Famer and former Astros broadcaster Harry Kalas, has over 25 seasons of experience as a broadcaster in professional baseball. Before joining the Astros, he spent 19 seasons (1998-2016) as part of the Tampa Bay Rays TV broadcast team. He also had stints with the New York Mets radio (1992-93) and Philadelphia Phillies television (1994-96) broadcast teams.
