Astros announce three-year Spanish radio partnership

June 1st, 2021

HOUSTON, TX - The Houston Astros and Univision today announced their three-year agreement to air Astros games live and in Spanish on TUDN Radio Houston 1010 AM. This has been the Astros Spanish radio home this season and will continue to be through at least the 2023 campaign.

"We are very excited about our partnership with Univision," said Astros Senior Vice President of Marketing and Communications Anita Sehgal. "They share our passion for our Hispanic fan base - and making Astros games available to our Spanish-speaking audience has been a longstanding commitment of ours. We look forward to Astros baseball on TUDN and a great community partnership with the team at Univision."

“Univision Houston’s sports flagship, TUDN Radio Houston, KLAT 1010AM, is thrilled to present exclusive Houston Astros Spanish language, live play-by-play game coverage; and, in conjunction with Univision 45 TV, off-field news and team coverage throughout the year,” said John Hannon, Univision Houston’s President & General Manager.

“The Houston Astros are synonymous with the city of Houston," Hannon added. " We consider this an incredible privilege to be associated with such a legacy organization."

The Astros Spanish radio broadcast team is made up of Francisco Romero (play-by-play) and Alex Treviño (color). The 2021 season is the 14th calling Astros games for Romero and the 26th for Treviño, the former Astros catcher who spent 13 seasons in the Major Leagues overall. Popular Astros icon Jose Cruz also makes frequent appearances in the broadcast booth.

Romero and Treviño are one of the longest-tenured broadcast duos in Major League Baseball, having been together since the 2008 season. They’ve called close to 2,000 Astros games together and have called 57 postseason games since the 2017 season, the most in Major League Baseball.
