HOUSTON, TX - The Astros Foundation and AT&T SportsNet raised $500,000 during the fourth-annual Astros Foundation Charity Game and live broadcast, doubling last year’s efforts! This year’s Charity Game at Minute Maid Park occurred on September 6, during a game against the Mariners. Fans at the game and tuning in at home were able to support the initiative by purchasing special bags, which included tickets to a 2020 Astros game, autographed merchandise and more.

All funds raised benefitted the Astros Foundation’s Childhood Cancer efforts. Charities including BIG LOVE, The Periwinkle Foundation, Snowdrop Foundation, Sunshine Kids and Candlelighters each received a $80,000 donation and David’s Toy Project received a $10,000 donation. The remainder will benefit the Astros Foundation’s ongoing efforts, as well as new initiatives specifically focused on teenagers undergoing treatment.

“Childhood cancer awareness is one of the Astros Foundation’s cornerstone pillars and we are thrilled to be able to raise awareness and much deserved funds for these incredible charities,” said Astros Foundation Executive Director Twila Carter. “We want to thank AT&T SportsNet for their partnership and support to make this event a success, as well as all of the Astros fans who graciously donated and purchased bags. The contributions from our fans made this the best year yet for this event. We look forward to continuing our efforts and raising the bar even higher for next year’s event.”

“AT&T SportsNet is proud to partner with the Astros Foundation in support of their efforts around childhood cancer,” said AT&T SportsNet General Manager David Peart. “This annual event is another example of the positive impact the entire Astros organization has in our community. We are overjoyed by the support from Astros fans for this year’s Charity Game and humbled to be able to help raise awareness for the many Houston charities that are leading the fight against childhood cancer.”
