Astros return home to host Cubs and A's in six-game homestand

Highlights of the homestand includes Orbit’s birthday and bobblehead and replica jersey giveaways

HOUSTON, Texas – The Astros return to Minute Maid Park for a six-game homestand, hosting the Chicago Cubs for the first time since 2019, May 15-17, and then hosting their American League West counterpart Oakland A’s for the first time this season**, May 19-21**.

Highlights of the homestand include Armed Forces Weekend, Bayou Bash, a Kyle Tucker Gold Glove bobblehead, a Framber Valdez World Series replica ring, Orbit’s birthday and more.

Monday, May 15 – Astros vs. Chicago Cubs: 7:10 p.m.
The Astros will host the Cubs at Minute Maid Park for the first time since May 2019 on Monday, April 15 at 7:10 p.m. CT. It is also a Space City Monday as the Astros will don their Nike City Connect Space City uniforms.

10,000 fans will receive a Space City tote bag.

Prior to the game, Astros right-handed pitcher Phil Maton and his wife, Katelynn, will host the second Maton’s Monday of the season, treating two kids from B.I.G. Love Cancer Care, a local non-profit organization easing the journey for kids battling cancer, for shopping sprees at the Astros Team Store.

In a pregame ceremony the Astros will welcome back Trey Mancini and present him with his 2022 World Series ring.

Houston Texas head coach DeMeco Ryans will throw out a ceremonial first pitch.

A portion of the proceeds from the Share2Care 50/50 raffle, presented by LGI Homes will go to the Cactus Jack Foundation.

Tuesday, May 16 – Astros vs. Chicago Cubs: 7:10 p.m.
Game two of the series against the Cubs is set for 7:10 p.m. on Tuesday, May 16.

Every Tuesday night at Minute Maid Park is Dollar Dog Night, presented by Texas Chili Company. Fans are treated to all-you-can-eat hot dogs that are just $1 each Tuesday home game during the season.

In a pregame check ceremony, the Astros Foundation will present Crimestoppers with a $300,000 check.

A portion of the proceeds from the Share2Care 50/50 raffle, presented by LGI Homes on Tuesday will go to the G-Unity Foundation.

Wednesday, May 17– Astros vs. Chicago Cubs: 7:10 p.m.
The Astros will finish off the three-game series against the Phillies on Wednesday at 7:10 p.m. CT.

All fans will receive a Framber Valdez World Series Replica Ring, presented by OXY.

In a pregame ceremony, the Astros will present Crimestoppers with a $300,000 check from the Astros Foundation.

Friday, May 19 – Astros vs. Oakland A’s: 7:10 p.m.
The Astros will open their first series against their American League West rival A’s on Friday, April 19 at 7:10 p.m. CT.

10,000 fans will receive a Kyle Tucker Gold Glove bobblehead, presented by SLB.

Pregame Happy Hour presented by Budweiser will take place from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Michelob Ultra Bar. Fans can enjoy $5 Ultra Drafts, a live D.J. and amazing views.

Astros shortstop Jeremy Peña will host students from Lanier Middle School from Brazosport ISD for the fourth Peña’s Pals of the 2023 season. Pena’s Pals is a new program developed by Jeremy in partnership with the Astros Foundation. He wants to celebrate kids and their development in academics, character building and making healthy choices. During the 2023 season, Jeremy will choose a school/organization and pick five Peña Pals students based on character, grades and growth. Those five students will be treated to an Astros game courtesy of Peña, and will attend batting practice, receive special Peña’s Pals shirts and more.

In a pregame ceremony the Astros will welcome back Aledmys Díaz and present him with his 2022 World Series ring.

Prior to the game and in honor of Armed Forces Weekend, the Astros will host a pregame U.S. Army enlistment/re-enlistment ceremony for approximately 30 soldiers.

A ceremonial first pitch will be thrown out by U.S. Army Colonel Xavier Colon, a brigade commander of 2,203 soldiers and Department of the Army Civilians Charge of all active and reserves recruiting for Texas, Phoenix, Oklahoma and Denver. Colonel Colon has 24 years of service, with deployments to Afghanistan and Iraq.

Also in honor of Armed Forces Weekend, our nation’s colors will be presented by Sharpstown High School JROTC and the National Anthem will be sung by U.S. Navy Chaplain Stephen DeMik.

Friday Night Fireworks presented by ConocoPhillips are set for postgame, featuring the musical theme of Country and Cajun. Friday Night Fireworks are subject to weather. In the event a show must be cancelled due to weather, refunds will not be granted.

Saturday, May 20 – Astros vs. Oakland A’s: 3:10 p.m.
Game two of the series against the A’s is set for 3:10 p.m. on Saturday, May 20.

10,000 fans will receive an Alex Bregman camo replica jersey, presented by Texas Bay Credit Union.

The Astros will be hosting the Bayou Bash Street Festival — presented by Pluckers — prior to Saturday’s game. The Bayou Bash is the Astros’ annual street fest with Cajun flair, and will be open from 12-3 p.m. The Bayou Bash will include live music, crawfish, games such as corn hole, giant Jenga and Connect 4, face painters, caricature artists and inflatables. Saturday is also Armed Forces Day at Minute Maid Park. The Astros will honor those who protect and serve our country with a special pregame ceremony in honor of Armed Forces Day. In celebration of the day, fans purchase a special Armed Forces Day hat ticket add-on for just $20. This package will feature Astros hats decorated with colors from each branch of the military for fans to choose from at time of purchase. A ceremonial first pitch, made possible by Houston Area Chevy Dealers, will be thrown out U.S. Army Corporal Sue Downes, who served in Afghanistan and was awarded a Bronze Star and Purple Heart when she was wounded in combat after serving more than 100 missions.

Also in honor of Armed Forces Day, our nation’s colors will be presented by the Joint Service Color Guard and the National Anthem will be sung by Staff Sergeant Courtney Woods, USAF Band of the West.

Sunday, May 21 – Astros vs. Oakland A’s: 1:10 p.m.
Game three of the series against the A’s is set for 1:10 p.m. on Sunday, May 21.

10,000 fans will receive an Orbit can cooler, presented by Coca-Cola.

The Astros will be celebrating Orbit’s birthday prior to Sunday’s game. Fans can come early and join us for a birthday party in Union Station with Orbit and his mascot friends. This event is sold out.

Kid’s Run the Bases, presented by Olshan Foundation Solutions, will occur for all kids in attendance ages 5-12 after the game.

Unless otherwise indicated because of a national broadcast, Astros local broadcasts are exclusively on AT&T SportsNet. Astros fans have plenty of options for viewing all locally available games for the 2023 season on AT&T SportsNet. Returning to the broadcast booth this year will be Todd Kalas and Geoff Blum along with reporter Julia Morales. Astros regular season coverage on AT&T SportsNet begins on Friday, March 31st when the defending World Series Champion Astros take on the Chicago White Sox at Minute Maid Park for Championship ring day. Coverage begins off with a special hour- long pregame show starting at 6pm. All season long Astros coverage will include Astros Pregame Show and Postgame Shows with Kevin Eschenfelder returning as host. Joining Eschenfelder on a rotating basis for another season will be former major leaguers Mike Stanton, Brian Bogusevic, Clay Hensley and Michael Bourn.
