Astros sign first round pick from 2023 MLB Draft

Houston signed 11 total draft picks and 2 non-drafted free agents

HOUSTON, TX – The Houston Astros have officially signed 11 members of their 2023 MLB Draft class, along with two non-drafted free agents. The highest draft pick to sign today was first-round selection SS Brice Matthews out of the University of Nebraska. The announcement was made by Astros Director of Amateur Scouting Kris Gross.

The Astros will make Matthews available in person at Minute Maid Park at the conclusion of the minor league season.

The Astros made a total of 20 selections in the three-day 2023 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft, which ended on Tuesday.

The deadline for teams to sign their draft picks is July 25.
