Brent Suter of the Milwaukee Brewers has been named the National League Reliever of the Month Presented by The Hartford for September, and Brandon Workman of the Boston Red Sox has been voted the American League Reliever of the Month Presented by The Hartford.
Suter was awarded his first career Reliever of the Month Award and is the second different Brewers reliever to take home monthly honors this season, joining his All-Star bullpen-mate Josh Hader, who won consecutive awards in May and June. Workman claimed his first career monthly award, and joined Jonathan Papelbon (April 2006) and Craig Kimbrel (May 2017) as the only Red Sox winners since Reliever of the Month began in 2005.

• Made nine appearances for the Brewers, registering 15 strikeouts and a perfect 4-0 record. Permitted 10 hits, a home run and one walk across 18.1 innings pitched.
• Made his first appearance of the season on September 2nd after recovering from Tommy John surgery, tossing 2.1 innings of one-run ball with a pair of strikeouts in relief. Seven-of-nine appearances consisted of at least 2.0 innings of work.
• After allowing a run in his first outing, posted eight consecutive scoreless appearances. Logged at least one strikeout in every outing of his award-winning month, including five multi-strikeout efforts.
• Became the second pitcher in franchise history to toss at least 18.0 innings with an ERA of 0.50-or-better in the month of September, joining Ray Searage (1984).
Brandon Workman, Boston Red Sox (@b_workman12)
• Made 12 scoreless appearances for the Red Sox, logging 18 strikeouts, a win and seven saves. Over the course of his dominant month, permitted just three hits and six walks.
• Recorded his 16th save of the season on Tuesday night against the Texas Rangers, concluding a steak of seven successfully converted save opportunities.
• In the final appearance of his breakout campaign, earned his 10th win of the season. Became the first Red Sox reliever since Alfredo Aceves in 2011 to compile at least 10 victories in a single campaign.
• Finished his outstanding 2019 season with 104 strikeouts and an ERA of 1.88 to go along with his 16 saves and 10 wins. Became the sixth reliever since saves became an official statistic in 1920 to notch at least 10 wins, 15 saves, 100 strikeouts and an ERA of 2.00-or-better, joining Jim Kern (1979), Hall of Famer Rich Gossage (1977), John Hiller (1973), Stu Miller (1965) and Dick Radatz (1963).

The National League Reliever of the Month presented by The Hartford, Brent Suter, and the American League Reliever of the Month presented by The Hartford, Brandon Workman, will each receive a specially designed plaque, suitably engraved, for their accomplishments. The Hartford, the Official Business Insurance & Employee Benefits Sponsor of MLB, has presented baseball’s annual Relievers of the Year Awards since 2015. The Hartford Presents the 2019 Relievers of the Year, named in honor of Mariano Rivera (American League) and Trevor Hoffman (National League), will again be presented during the World Series.
