MILWAUKEE - The Milwaukee Brewers today named Ozzie Timmons and Connor Dawson as hitting coaches. The announcement was made by President of Baseball Operations David Stearns.

“We are thrilled to add Ozzie and Connor to our Major League staff,” said Stearns. “Ozzie and Connor will form the lead duo of our hitting coach team at the Major League level, and through their varied experiences and backgrounds will provide new voices and perspectives. We aim to add a third member to the hitting coach team, an assistant hitting coach, in the coming weeks.”

Timmons, 51, joins the organization from the Tampa Bay Rays, where he served as first base coach and assistant hitting coach from 2017-21. During that time, he also assisted the team with baserunning and outfield instruction. Prior to joining the Major League staff, Timmons was a hitting coach in the Rays farm system at Class-A Hudson Valley (2007), Class-A Columbus (2008), Double-A Montgomery (2009-15) and at Triple-A Durham (2016-17).

The former outfielder played 16 professional seasons, including parts of five Major League seasons with Chicago-NL (1995-96), Cincinnati (1997), Seattle (1999) and Tampa Bay (2000). He batted .235 with 20 HR and 60 RBI in 186 career Major League games. He produced 301 HR in his professional career, which included independent baseball as well as stints in Mexico and Japan.

Dawson, 28, comes to the Brewers from the Seattle Mariners, where he served as Minor League hitting coordinator last season. He joined the Mariners in 2019 as hitting coach at Rookie Arizona. He spent the 2020 season as hitting strategist at the team’s Alternate Training Site in Tacoma.

Prior to his stint with the Mariners, Dawson was hitting coach and pitching coach at Marshalltown (IA) Community College in 2019. From 2015-18, he coached for the KC Bullets college prep baseball program and was hitting coach and strength coach at St. Thomas Aquinas (KS) High School. Before coaching, Dawson was an infielder/outfielder at Neosho County (KS) Community College after graduating from Olathe North (KS) High School.

Bench coach Pat Murphy (entering his 7th season), third base coach Jason Lane (7th season), pitching coach Chris Hook (4th season), bullpen coach Steve Karsay (4th season), associate pitching, catching and strategy coach Walker McKinven (3rd season), first base coach Quintin Berry (2nd season), bullpen catcher Néstor Corredor (2nd season) and bullpen catcher Adam Weisenburger (2nd season) will all return from last season.
