CBS 58 and Brewers Community Foundation continue Thanksgiving Drive-Thru tradition to support hungry Milwaukee families

November 22nd, 2019

MILWAUKEE – November 21, 2019 – The annual community tradition that pairs Thanksgiving with hometown generosity is back! Hunger Task Force, CBS 58 and Brewers Community Foundation are banding together for the eighth annual Thanksgiving Drive Thru Food Drive, an easy, convenient way to give back just in time for the Thanksgiving holiday. Community members are encouraged to mark their calendars for the exciting event and to stop by next week on Wednesday, Nov. 27 between 5 a.m. and 6 p.m. at Miller Park.

As cars pull through the Miller Park parking lot “drive thru” next to Helfaer Field, volunteers will be at the ready to accept food donations right through the car window! CBS 58 will broadcast live from the food drive throughout the day, and visitors will be able to meet some of their favorite CBS 58 personalities and Brewers alumni.

Last year, generous community members donated more than 100,000 pounds of healthy food to feed children, families and seniors. This year’s focus continues Hunger Task Force’s request for healthy, protein-packed donations, including canned chicken or tuna, low sodium vegetables and healthy breakfast cereal with no added sugar.

Turkey donations for the holidays are in high demand, so the first 100 cars that bring a donation of at three or more frozen turkeys will be awarded a Josh Hader bobble head. All drive-thru visitors will receive a 2020 Milwaukee Brewers magnet schedule and other fun giveaways.

“The Drive Thru Food Drive is a wonderful opportunity for our CBS 58 viewers to show their generosity and giving spirit,” said Mark Strachota, CBS 58 Vice President/General Manager. “It’s a great event that we are proud to share with the Hunger Task Force, the Milwaukee Brewers and our community.”

“Brewers Community Foundation is excited to once again partner with Hunger Task Force and CBS 58 to host this meaningful event,” said Brewers Community Foundation Executive Director Cecelia Gore. “We aim to positively impact the lives of children and families in Greater Milwaukee and Wisconsin, and there’s no better way to do that than assuring everyone in our community has food on the table this holiday season.”

“Thanks to our friends at CBS 58 and Brewers Community Foundation for their generosity year after year in supporting this Thanksgiving spectacle,” said Sherrie Tussler, Executive Director of Hunger Task Force. “In rain, shine or snow, our volunteers are ready to collect Milwaukee’s generous donations and share them with hungry families throughout the city. Every donation counts. We look forward to seeing record amounts of cars come through this year!"
