Major League Baseball today announced the ceremonial & off-field activities for Game Four of the 2022 World Series presented by Capital One. The 118th Fall Classic between the National League Champion Philadelphia Phillies and the American League Champion Houston Astros continues tonight, Wednesday, November 2nd, at Citizens Bank Park with LIVE coverage beginning at 7:30 p.m. ET on FOX, FOX Deportes and ESPN Radio. ESPN Radio will provide live national coverage of all 2022 World Series games.
CEREMONIAL FIRST PITCH: Phillies Legends and 2008 World Series Champions Jimmy Rollins and Chase Utley will participate in tonight’s ceremonial first pitch ceremony.
IN-GAME SU2C MOMENT, FIRST LADY JILL BIDEN & PEDIATRIC CANCER SURVIVOR FIRST PITCH: MLB, Stand Up To Cancer and Mastercard will continue the annual Fall Classic tradition of an in-game SU2C moment at Citizens Bank Park, with First Lady Jill Biden joining players, umpires, coaches and fans, as they all hold up placards with the names of loved ones affected by the disease. The moment will take place after the 5th inning and will air LIVE on FOX. MLB and its 30 Clubs are the founding donors of SU2C, committing more than $50 million, to date, to SU2C’s innovative cancer research programs. Dr. Biden is attending as part of the Biden Administration’s Cancer Moonshot.
Prior to the Rollins/Utley first pitch, Luke Theodosiades, 19-year-old Phillies fan from Ridley Township, will throw a first pitch as a special invited guest of MLB and SU2C. Luke is a pediatric cancer survivor who was diagnosed at 11. Luke’s cancer didn’t respond well to initial cancer treatments. His doctors recommended he participate in a clinical trial run by the St. Baldrick’s Foundation–Stand Up To Cancer Pediatric Cancer Dream Team. Through this trial, Luke was successfully treated with CAR-T therapy in May of 2016. The therapy sent Luke’s cancer into remission, which meant he was then able to receive a bone marrow transplant from his brother Niko later that same year. Luke is currently doing well and is now majoring in education and minoring in athletic coaching and administration at Kutztown University outside of Philadelphia.
NATIONAL ANTHEM PERFORMANCES: Due to the weather-related re-scheduling, singer-songwriter and entertainer Madison Watkins will now perform the National Anthem before Game Four. Watkins has appeared on the Grammys, American Idol, and has opened for numerous globally renowned artists including Elle King, Gwen Stefani and Jason Derulo. Watkins’ hit song “Someday” went viral across social media and has nearly surpassed 3 million streams on Spotify. Her brand-new EP “Electric” has become an instant fan favorite and continues to gain traction across all streamers. With over 1.7 billion views on her TikTok campaign #curlmagic, Watkins boasts an impressive social media following.
BGCA GAME BALL DELIVERY: The Game Four Game Ball will be delivered by Salot Young, 17, from the Shane Victorino Boys & Girls Club. Salot is a senior at Olney High School and is eligible to be a candidate for the 2023 Boys & Girls Clubs of America “Youth of the Year” for Philadelphia.
ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSIBILITY DURING WORLD SERIES: As part of Major League Baseball’s ongoing commitment to environmental stewardship, MLB has ensured that the 2022 World Series incorporates environmentally friendly features and activities. Efforts include:
