MILWAUKEE - The Milwaukee Brewers have acquired infielder Chad Spanberger from the Toronto Blue Jays in exchange for right-handed pitcher Chase Anderson. Spanberger has been added to the Double-A Biloxi roster. The announcement was made by President of Baseball Operations and General Manager David Stearns.

“We are appreciative of the contributions made by Chase over the last four years, not only on the field, but in the community,” said Stearns. “We wish Chase and his family all the best going forward.”

Anderson, who turns 32 on November 30, had a club option for 2020 prior to the trade. He owns a career record of 53-40 with a 3.94 ERA in 166 games / 160 starts in the Major Leagues with Arizona (2014-15) and Milwaukee (2016-19). He went 38-27 with a 3.83 ERA in 118 games / 112 starts as a Brewer, including 8-4 with a 4.21 ERA in 32 games / 27 starts this season.

Spanberger, 24, was originally selected by Colorado in the sixth round of the 2017 First-Year Player Draft. He was traded to Toronto on July 26, 2018. Spanberger batted .237 with 13 HR and 59 RBI in 122 games at Double-A New Hampshire this season.
