CHICAGO – The Chicago White Sox and Beggars Pizza have renewed a multiyear partnership agreement, announcing the local, family-owned Italian restaurant franchise as the “Official Pizza of the Chicago White Sox.”
The agreement with Beggars Pizza, which now offers more than two dozen locations across Illinois and Northwest Indiana, extends a nearly decade-long relationship that began in 2014.
“Like baseball, pizza in Chicago is an extra special topic. Throughout Chicagoland and especially among South Side neighborhoods, Beggars Pizza is an established family brand rooted in the community that is dedicated to delivering a quality product,” said George McDoniel, White Sox senior director of corporate partnerships and sales. “The White Sox organization is proud to deepen our relationship with a company that shares our values. Beggars has been an extraordinary partner over the past decade, supporting efforts to enhance the ballpark experience and investing in our work through White Sox Charities to give back to the community. Beggars is a true partner is every sense of the word.”
“Almost a decade ago, we announced our first partnership with the White Sox and fulfilled my late brother Peter’s lifelong dream that Beggars be served at the ballpark of our beloved hometown team,” explains Beggars Pizza CEO Larry Garetto. “The Beggars brand and our extended family of mom-and-pop restaurants have grown so much from then to now. We’re thrilled to continue a partnership that’s rooted in tradition and provides an authentic taste of the South Side for baseball fans to enjoy with their loved ones for years to come.”
Celebrating the renewed partnership, Beggars Pizza and the White Sox delivered special Sox pizzas to over 400 first responders across Chicago’s 9th District, including lunches for Engine 19 and Engine 29 EMTs and firefighters and 9-1-1 Call Center workers at the city’s Office of Public Safety Administration.
As the “Official Pizza of the White Sox,” Beggars Pizza is available at concessions locations throughout Guaranteed Rate Field as well as the Beggars Pizza Pub, which was established in 2016. Receiving prominent brand exposure throughout the 2023 season and beyond, the company also remains as a sponsor for several popular events and promotions such as White Sox Hawaiian Shirt on June 10 vs. Miami (first 20,000 fans who enter the ballpark) and Elvis Night on August 11 vs. Milwaukee.
